The classic route from Mexico City via Oaxaca and Palenque to Yucatán captivates travelers with its abundance of highlights: impressive archaeological sites with monumental structures, colonial old towns full of charm, splendid churches, important museums, and colorful markets. Every day brings new unforgettable impressions, every old town is different, every excavation site has its own allure, and each region its unique features.
From the Olmecs, the oldest culture of Central America, through the Maya and Zapotecs to the Aztecs—who called themselves Méxica and gave the country its name—you will immerse yourself in the fascinating pre-Columbian history of Mexico. The legacy of the Spanish colonial rulers is visible everywhere, and your Mexican tour guide will introduce you to the unique cultural amalgam that defines today’s population of Mexico.
You will stay in carefully selected hotels full of character, almost always perfectly located in the historic centers of the cities.
