ces termes qu\u2019Alexander von Humboldt d\u00e9crivait un pays qui le fascinait profond\u00e9ment.<\/p><p>N\u00e9 le 14 septembre 1769, ce naturaliste est encore consid\u00e9r\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui comme l\u2019un des scientifiques les plus importants de son \u00e9poque. Humboldt \u00e9tait \u00e0 la fois explorateur, ethnographe, g\u00e9ographe, g\u00e9ologue, botaniste et volcanologue. Au cours de son exp\u00e9dition de cinq ans en Am\u00e9rique du Sud, il a parcouru plus de 10 000 kilom\u00e8tres en compagnie du botaniste fran\u00e7ais Aim\u00e9 Bonpland et s\u2019est consacr\u00e9 avec une passion particuli\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9quateur.<\/p><p><strong>La \u00ab route des volcans \u00bb de Humboldt<\/strong><\/p><p>Fascin\u00e9 par la puissance et la beaut\u00e9 de la nature, Humboldt a invent\u00e9 le terme <strong>\u00ab Avenida de los Volcanes \u00bb (route des volcans)<\/strong> pour d\u00e9signer la vall\u00e9e intra-andine, o\u00f9 s\u2019alignent 44 volcans. Ses observations sur la g\u00e9ologie, la flore et le climat ont pos\u00e9 les bases de nombreuses d\u00e9couvertes scientifiques, telles que le courant de Humboldt, qui porte toujours son
